How to Be More Confident

Being more confident

is an important part of all of us growing up and
being active, productive members of our communities.

So often I’ve seen people not reach their full potential because something inside them held them back, they lacked confidence and often times this feel of lack, on their behalf, was undeserved.

It’s frustrating as a business manager and/or leader to see people struggle with interaction with others simply because the person in question just does not “back themselves”.

Sure, it’s important to be humble and to respect the views of others and treat people as you would be treated, but none the less being confident makes life a lot more fun and a whole bunch more interesting.

People often marvel (and comment upon) my ability to strike up a conversation with anyone - and I mean pretty much anyone!  I was lucky in that I was in a professional sense to be trained and developed in an environment where I’d have daily interaction with everyone from CEO’s and business owners, factory workers, line staff, teachers, students and all manner of people from all walks of life.

Confidence for me did not come easy to start with.  At school I was the smallest kid in the class, got picked on some but was always personable. Many thought of me as shy.

However, when I started my first business at the age of 21, I soon learnt that to be successful in business you had to sell. And to sell you had to talk. And to talk, that meant getting out of the office and meeting people.

So I cold called pretty much all of the commercial areas  of the town.

I would sell everything from a single paper roll for a calculator, weird batteries for early adding machines and phones or anything relatively office technology/automation related  (this is like over 20 years ago when I started my first PC business) - in time my confidence grew as did my ability as a sales person.

Being more confident is nothing more than practicing, having some guidance and the tools to make it easy to understand and work with your own feelings, fears and emotions so that you can indeed be as effective as you know you can be.

The Going for Gold - Goal Setting will help you to do just that.

Learn what drives your emotions, feelings and behaviors, discover how be clear on what you want in life and then move confidently towards that desired goal.

Personal Transformation Made Simple

It’s been said that the purpose of life is to find your purpose in life.
If that’s true, then for a lot of people that goal can sometimes be “elusive.”

If you think back to when you were a kid and someone asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Most of us Baby Boomers or X Gen’s would probably have said something like, a Policemen, a Truck Driver, a Doctor or Nurse, a Firemen, a super hero or whatever Mum and Dad did, or whatever was popular on TV at the time.

There’s an abundance of evidence to suggest that if you ask a child that question at ages 7 and 14 and if their answer is the same each time, then there’s a weightier probability that that’s what they will do when they grow up.

For many people, the years between those ages and during the socialization period (ages 14 to 21) things can happen that causes their dream to become blurred or change or even be forgotten, as events and circumstances change their desires, focus or confidence.

As adults, it can be challenging to get past the “Stuff” in our lives and truly reach for what we had intended.
For some, they may not even be sure of what they want any more.
For some, even if they do know what they want, they may feel apprehensive about even attempting to go for it.

And for others, they may have tried to reach for their stars but live with the memories of disillusion having failed to achieve their dream.

The reality is life doesn’t have to be like that. There are people achieving their goals everyday and you can be one of them.

The challenge for most people is not their lack of looks, talent, skill or ability or even connections. Their real challenge is to get past the fact that they “believe” they are incapable of achieving their goal.
Because that decision to “believe” causes them to act in a manner consistent with that unuseful program.
Basically “locking down” or “Freezing” their real potential, into a state of suspended animation.

What that means is that they end up projecting to the world (through their attitude, how they stand, walk, talk, dress, what they will attempt and how they interact with others) is a hollow version of what they are really capable of.

That “transmission” attracts its equivalent in the world, in terms of experiences and opportunities events and circumstances and relationships.

Our Going for Goal – Goal Setting that Really Works, Sessions One, Two and Three are specifically designed to release the brakes, clear up any mental clutter, defrost and unlock your capability and free you to transform your self and enable you to live the life you dream of.
